About me…

Hello and welcome!…

I am a freelance artist and illustrator who lives and works in County Durham, England.

I’m a recent graduate from Cleveland College of Art & Design, and I exhibit my work both in Britain and internationally.

I enjoy creating work in a variety of mediums including watercolour, pen and ink and collage work using found papers and vintage ephemera.

I am currently working on a collection of Art Nouveau inspired wallpaper for Atlas Wallcoverings, Belgium.

Why do I create art?

Creating art is a compulsion for me. I find inspiration everywhere and my urge to draw is irrepressible. I am constantly inspired by the world around me and love collecting beautiful pieces of discarded paper that hold words and memories.

My art is intricate and hand drawn or painted; it is instinctive, expressive and filled with character.

I have experience in many creative media including watercolour, gouache, inks, hand dyeing and hand painting fabric, screen printing and hand embellishment of textiles.

My  illustrative work often explores mixed media collage, which embraces my love of vintage colours and ephemera. Paper plays a fundamental role in my current work, especially if aged, turned yellow or worn because of time and use. I can spend hours carefully collaging found papers that hold some pertinence to my illustrations.
